Methodology
Experience day-to-day reality in law firms
At Esade, the learning process will progressively immerse you in the business and legal world. The methodology applied in the Bachelor in Law programme combines a rigorous education in theoretical concepts with experiential learning, resolving real practical case studies, immersing you in litigation, legal strategies, reasoning and responses, applying legal reasoning, preparing written legal documents, negotiating, etc.
This immersion in the world of Law will increase progressively in keeping with the learning-by-doing philosophy: As the semesters go by, the curriculum will introduce numerous legal experiences inside and outside of class, culminating with the Final Degree Project, a case study that you’ll have to resolve, applying all your legal knowledge and presenting your solutions in writing and orally at the end of the fourth year.

Student First: A new educational experience
Esade’s Student-First methodology connects to the most advanced educational trends and is based on a basic concept: students’ active role in the learning process. With the Student-First methodology, you and your classmates will participate in the knowledge-generation process, and your work will contribute to the collective learning process.
One of the biggest differences with respect to more traditional methods is that you have to come to class having prepared the topics to be addressed that day. This is what’s referred to as the flipped classroom which divides the learning process into three distinct phases.
Preparing for class
reading, researching and watching or listening to multimedia content on the basic concepts to be addressed in class
In-class work
sharing the knowledge you’ve acquired with your classmates and faculty through debates, reflections, resolving case studies and challenges and completing projects
After class
furthering your understanding and reflecting, applying the concepts acquired in other areas.
Advantages of the Student-First methodology
- You internalise knowledge more naturally.
- When you come to class, you will already have questions and doubts to share and address.
- Classes are much more enriching: You focus on applying your knowledge and you receive inputs from both faculty and classmates.
- It prepares you for the future: You learn to apply this technique in different circumstances and to work collaboratively with others.
- You will be more open to learning about new things.
