Business management education that integrates your goals
Starting in the first year, you’ll combine the compulsory subjects of the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with electives grouped into themes. By choosing the electives that best match your interests and career goals, you can customise your educational journey and prepare for the career paths that interest you the most.

First year
COMPULSORY
Basics of Financial Accounting
This subject provides an introduction to the economic and financial reality of companies. By studying accounting facts and simple situations, you will learn how accounting works and gain an understanding of basic concepts pertaining to the preparation of a company’s financial statements.
Microeconomics
In this subject, you will acquire the knowledge and tools you need to analyse reality from an economic perspective. You will learn how to critically interpret the operation of markets and the economy while taking into account issues related to social responsibility.
Applied Mathematics for Management
Mathematics are essential for analysing quantitative information. In this subject, you will learn how to create and interpret models that explain the economic, and financial reality of the business world, use mathematical language and concepts fluently, and apply deductive thinking rigorously.
Sociology
Companies operate in markets, and markets, in turn, are a part of increasingly interrelated societies. This subject aims to foster an awareness of the role that executives should play as citizens and their ability to contribute and transform society on the basis of socially responsible values.
Business Law
The overall aim of this subject is to equip you to make business decisions while taking into account legal limitations and conditioning factors. When you complete the subject, you will have basic knowledge that will allow you understand and assess the advice and actions of legal advisors and determine their soundness.
Accounting and financial analysis II
This subject expands on the knowledge acquired in Accounting and Financial Analysis I. We will deal with situations of greater complexity, placing particular emphasis on product assessment and cost calculation. On completion of the subject, you will be able to understand any situation that modifies a company’s financial statements and know how to reflect the change in those statements.
Macroeconomics
This subject will expand on the knowledge acquired in Microeconomics: You will learn how to critically assess microeconomic approaches, decisions, and policies. Among other topics, we will cover macroeconomic variables, fiscal policy, the financial industry, recessions, and crises.
Leadership & Organisational Behaviour
The subject aims to make you aware of the place and the effect that people and psychosocial processes have on organizations. In addition, we will work with explanatory models that will help you better understand the behaviour of individuals and work groups.
Descriptive Statistics and Probability
In this subject, you will acquire theoretical and practical fundamentals that will enable you to approach decision-making correctly in the face of uncertainty. You will learn to use statistical reasoning, probability calculation, and modelling to guide you.
Tax Law
This subject will cover basic tax concepts that will help you understand why it is important for a company to follow a suitable fiscal policy. On completion of the subject, you will be prepared to study the Spanish tax system in greater detail.
Language I (Spanish)
Your curriculum will also include compulsory Spanish courses, ranging in level from beginner to advanced. Before beginning the BBA, students are required to take the Spanish Language Level Test set by Esade and/or with official accreditation recognized by Esade. You’ll start with the Language I course and learn to understand, speak, read and write basic Spanish that’s applicable both in business environments, and in daily life. On completion of this subject, your level of Spanish will reach level A2 (MCER system).

The principles and techniques of accounting make it possible to determine: 1) a company’s assets and financial and economic situation; and 2) changes in the company’s assets, in the fundamental magnitudes of its balance sheet, and in its profitability indicators. Digital Management of Information
This subject explores the numerous possibilities that new information technologies have opened up for companies. You will learn how to obtain data and design and implement information systems that can be used to create or support new business and organisational models.

In this subject, you will learn not only about the function of the operations area but also about how to harness this area to generate value for the company through innovation, production, logistics and quality.
Managerial Economics
The topics covered in this subject include market power, imperfect competition, pricing policies, market segmentation and competitive strategies. You will also learn about exchange rates and short- and long-run theories.

Statistical Inference and Data Analysis
In this subject, you’ll learn some of the theoretical and practical fundamentals that form the basis for making predictions and estimations and for testing hypotheses. You will learn how to transform information into knowledge, which will help you make decisions in the face of uncertainty.
Marketing Fundamentals
In this subject, you will learn about fundamental concepts of marketing and acquire a solid foundation that will enable you to make good decisions as a marketing manager. You will acquire this knowledge by applying the learning-by-doing methodology, experiencing first-hand the design of a marketing planning process.
Financial Economics
Every economic activity requires sources of financing so knowing how financial markets operate is a decisive factor in your training. When you complete the subject, you will be familiar with the various financing instruments and know how to assess their suitability in any given case.
Organisation Theory
This subject will teach you to think in systemic terms: relating a company’s environment with its structure and the people who make it up. The objective is for you to be able to understand how the job market and people interrelate with the company and how organizations are structured.
Foundations of Operational Excellence
Building on the content of Design of Operational Systems, in this subject you will delve deeper into topics such as competing through innovation; developing new products, processes, and services; operational planning; and quality and environmental management.
Information Systems
Information systems facilitate innovation and flexibility in organizations. In this subject, you will learn to: 1) analyse an organizational environment from the perspective of information flows, and 2) use those flows to contribute to innovation processes within the company.

COMPULSORY
Competitive Strategy
This subject is divided into an intensive theoretical part, which will provide an overview of a company and key concepts in strategic decision-making, and a practical part comprising a simulation in which you will apply tools and concepts covered in class.
Marketing Decisions
In this subject, which builds on Fundamentals of Marketing, you will learn about marketing strategies. To use an analogy from the world of chess, in Fundamentals of Marketing you learned how the various pieces move; in Marketing Decisions, you will learn about the most typical moves (checkmate, openings, etc.).
Corporate Finance
In this subject, you will learn about long-term financial planning and generating value for shareholders. You will learn to analyse the cost of capital, determine the value of companies, and select the investments and resources that do the most to create value.
Economic Environment Analysis
This subject combines elements from Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Business Economics. You will study applied economics, which projects the fundamentals of economic analysis onto the economic situation from a geographical and sector-oriented perspective.
Competing from Operations
Building on previous subjects, this subject will prepare you to deal with the most important issues faced by operations managers. We will cover topics such as designing supply chain programmes in collaboration with marketing, benchmarking, process-based management, etc.
Corporate Strategy
In this subject, you will discuss general management decisions with real-life executives, learn about new strategic management tools and intensify your knowledge of the reality of business (both in Spain and internationally).
Marketing Trends
In this subject, which builds on Fundamentals of Marketing and Marketing Decisions, you will learn to create. To use an analogy from the world of chess, in Fundamentals of Marketing you learned how the various pieces move; in Marketing Decisions II, you learned about the most typical moves; and now, in Marketing Trends, you will learn to create your own moves, develop your own style, follow your own strategies, choose which tournaments to compete in, etc.
Financial Strategy
In this subject, you will analyse opportunities and threats in the creation of value through corporate finance. We will pay special attention to the dynamics between companies, business environments and financial markets that influence the chances of success.
People Management
In this subject, you will gain a solid understanding of the criteria and processes involved in managing people in various organisational environments. We will cover tools and instruments for managing talent from a human standpoint that emphasises bonds and teamwork, while also taking social and corporate responsibility into account.
Managing Information Systems
In this subject, you will learn to design an information-systems strategy that is aligned with the company’s organisational strategy. You will acquire the ability to identify and apply relevant aspects of information technology governance, with special emphasis on how these technologies affect every area of the company.
Socio-political Environment of Businesses
In this subject, you will learn to analyse the fundamental elements of the technological, economic, social, political, and cultural climate of organizations. You will gain an understanding of the impact that they have on the environment and acquire a global/local vision of reality. An awareness of these factors will enable you to generate a professional and civic commitment to society.
Corporate Finance
Language III (Spanish)
On completion of this subject, your level of Spanish will reach level B2 (MCER system). Over the course of the program, you’ll progress to Español 5, which focuses on becoming fluent and understanding the cultural context of the language.

Fourth year
COMPULSORY
BBA International Exchange Programme
During the fourth year, you will spend a semester abroad at one of the 80+ universities worldwide with which Esade has exchange agreements. In turn, students from those universities will spend their semester abroad at Esade, bringing an even more international vision to our classrooms.
Internship
In the fourth year, you will complete a compulsory semester-long professional internship. During the internship, you will hold a real job at a top-tier Spanish or international company. You will have the chance to apply everything you have learned during the program and acquire skills and competencies that can only be developed on the job.
Capstone Module: Imagine the Future of Business in 2030
During the Capstone Module, you will do a consulting job for a real company. You will work with your colleagues as a team to define the market trends and possible future scenarios for its industry. You will then propose the best strategy for the company to continue to thrive in those new scenarios.
Final Degree Project
As a fourth-year student, you will work on an individual project due at the end of the year. The project will allow you to put the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the program into practice. For the project, you may choose to develop a business plan, carry out an in-company business project related to your internship, or complete a Final Thesis.
