First year
Business administration fundamentals
In year one you’ll learn the basic theories of business management (economics, accounting etc.) combined with electives chosen from different areas: economics, finance & accounting, operations, innovation & data science, people management and organization, liberal arts and social sciences, and strategy and general management. This is a year of new experiences: you can join student associations and immerse yourself in the intense university life at Esade.
In year two you’ll gain deeper understanding of subjects including economics, sociology and statistics, and begin specialist subjects such as finance, marketing, and operations. You’ll also continue to study electives from the areas you began in the first year. By year two you’ll be settled into your studies. You’ll know how to make the most of life on campus and the opportunities it presents.
The third-year curriculum intensifies with subjects from various business management areas and an increased number of electives, introducing new thematic areas: Strategy and Organization, Marketing, Operations, and Supply Chain, with electives focused on the social side of management. In the summer, you can take part in social internships in Latin America, Africa, and Asia through the “University Service for Development” (SUD).
In year four you’ll go abroad for a whole semester on exchange. You’ll also spend a semester on an internship with a leading company in Spain or abroad, and you’ll work on a final degree project that you’ll present at the end of the academic year. Finally, to end the program, you can take part in the Capstone Module – Imagine the Future of Business in 2030. This is a unique, practical consulting experience in which you will advise real companies on the best strategy to succeed in the possible future scenarios for their industry.
The essential perspective: understanding the business as a whole
Studying specialised subjects in different company areas will allow you to offer exceptional value as a professional. You’ll understand internal processes and how company departments are interrelated, how finances and accounting work, what human resource management entails, how marketing strategies are proposed and how digital innovation projects such as the development of an app or a website are managed.
It will also expand your career options: as well as the usual BBA career paths you will also have the added possibility of joining different departments (finance, marketing, human resources, etc.).
