New talent joins Esade’s faculty
Nine new faculty members have joined Esade for the 2019-2020 academic year, each of whom brings their expertise in areas from economics and financial and strategic management, to marketing, innovation and people management. With these new additions, Esade’s faculty reaches a total of 152 members, who represent 19 nationalities, and reflect the school’s desire to incorporate a diverse range of profiles and a variety of methodologies and approaches.
Daniel Blaseg, Assistant Professor in the Department of Strategy and General Management
Daniel received his Ph.D. in quantitative marketing (2019) from the Goethe University Frankfurt (Germany) and holds master degrees in law and finance. Before entering academia, he gained practical experience as a consultant for venture capital transactions and startup acquisitions at a leading corporate finance boutique in Germany and as co-founder and CFO of several startups. Daniel’s primary research interests lie at the intersection of entrepreneurship, finance, and marketing. A particular focus concerns the economics and regulation of alternative sources of entrepreneurial finance such as crowdfunding.
Ioannis Evangelidis, Assistant Professor in the Department of Marketing
Ioannis received his Ph.D. in Management (2015) and his Master’s degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University Rotterdam. Prior to joining Esade, Ioannis was an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Bocconi University (2015-2019) and a visiting research scholar at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Ioannis studies consumers’ decision-making, and his research primarily focuses on understanding how people’s use of attribute information and choice behavior can be influenced by changes in the decision context.
Laura Guillén, Associate Professor in the Department of People Management and Organisation
Laura holds a Ph.D. in organizational behavior (2007) from Esade Business School (URL). While working on her PhD, she got a second BS. in Psychology and was trained as a professional coach. She worked as a research fellow for the European Social Survey. She joined INSEAD (France) as a post-doctoral fellow where she earned a Diploma in Clinical Organizational Psychology. Prior to joining Esade, she was a faculty member at ESMT Berlin (Germany). Her research focuses on understanding how self- and social perceptions are formed in the workplace and the consequences they entail for individual and group outcomes. Her work comprises three streams of research to explore three questions: leadership, diversity, and identity.
Alexis Mavrommatis, Associate Professor in the Department of Marketing
Alexis obtained his Ph.D. (2004) and MSc in Retail Management from the University of Stirling (UK). He is an executive graduate in Sustainable Leadership from the University of Cambridge and from Harvard Business School. He worked for Carrefour and as a senior consultant for JDV The Retail Company, developing innovative store concepts for retailers and manufacturers (Carrefour, P & G, Coca-Cola, Masterfoods). Member of the Advisory Board in Avicanna, a Canadian biopharmaceutical company. Before joining Esade, he was professor at EADA Business School, where he also served as Deputy Director for Pedagogical Innovation. He teaches and researches in the areas of marketing, retailing, multichannel strategies and social entrepreneurship (this appointment will be effective as of 1st November 2019).
Marco Menner, Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics, Finance and Accounting
Marco holds a Ph.D. in Quantitative Economics and Finance (2019) from the Graduate School of Decision Sciences, University of Konstanz (Germany). He has been a visiting scholar at the University of Sydney (Australia), the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland), and the University of Strasbourg (France). His research focuses on analyzing the information content of financial asset prices, on predictive modeling in finance, and on topics in econometrics and mathematical finance. Marco teaches Big Data in Finance (Numerical Methods) and Fixed Income. He has worked as a quantitative strategist within the investment bank division at Credit Suisse (Zurich, Switzerland) and in the market risk area at HSBC Trinkaus (Dusseldorf, Germany).
Jordi Nin, Assistant Professor in the Department of Operations, Innovation and Data Sciences
Jordi obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science (2008) from the Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona. After graduating in Computer Science (UAB) in 2004, he joined the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute of the Spanish National Research Council (IIIA-CSIC). He also was post-doctoral researcher at the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). In 2010, he started working for the Department of Computer Architecture Dept. of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) as a tenure-track lecturer. Before joining Esade, he was a senior data scientist at BBVA Data & Analytics for four years. His areas of interest are financial networks analytics, machine learning, decision making and information fusion.
Matteo Prato, Associate Professor in the Department of Strategy and General Management
Matteo holds a Ph.D. (2011) and Master of Research in Management from IESE Business School, where he also served as a post-doctoral researcher. He has been visiting researcher at Stanford University and Columbia University. Before joining Esade, he was Associate Professor at USI (Switzerland). His current research interests lie at the intersection of economic sociology and organization theory, with particular emphasis on the role that social structures play in shaping market valuations and in enhancing actors' performance.
Cristina Sancha, Lecturer in the Department of Operations, Innovation and Data Sciences
Cristina holds a Ph.D. in Management Sciences (2015) and a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Esade Business School (URL). She visited The Hong Kong Polytechnic University for a research stage and was awarded with a Rosalind Franklin Fellowship in Groningen University (The Netherlands). Her research interests are centered around the concepts of sustainable operations and supply chain management. More specifically, she studies the extension of sustainability upstream the supply chain.
Bilgehan Uzunca, Associate Professor in the Department of Strategy and General Management
Bilgehan obtained his Ph.D. in Strategic Management at IESE Business School (2014). He holds an MBA degree from Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara (Turkey). Before joining Esade, he worked as an assistant professor in Utrecht University School of Economics in the Netherlands. His research interests have centered on strategic management, technology and innovation, and entrepreneurship with a particular focus on industry evolution, submarkets, entry deterrence, and sharing economy.
