Esade and “la Caixa” Foundation train more than 1,700 executives in third sector
In a world in which non-governmental and non-profit organizations (NGOs and NPOs) are crucial for tackling social issues, Esade Institute for Social Innovation and “la Caixa” Foundation are celebrating 25 years of third-sector management training programs. During this quarter of a century, the NGO-NPO Management Program and the Leadership and Social Innovation Program have trained 1,732 managers in 852 entities, driving significant change in management and leadership in this sector.
Ignasi Carreras, director of NGO-NPO management training programs at Esade, highlighted the importance of this academic initiative. “We’re at a turning point in the professionalization of these entities: innovation, leadership and a result-oriented mindset are essential. We firmly believe in the formative and transformative power of the people who collaborate in these institutions, and we want to boost their ability to make a bigger impact.”
Commitment to the third sector
The NGO-NPO Management programs and the Leadership and Social Innovation programs taught by Esade Executive Education have directly benefited 1,099 and 773 participants respectively. Female participation has increased considerably, soaring to 66% in recent years. These programs have not only improved the leadership skills of participants; they have also multiplied the social impact and organizational development of the entities to which they belong.
Each year, more than one hundred male and female managers in the third sector undergo training at Esade. These programs are renowned for their hands-on approach and their ability to adapt to the changing needs of NGOs and NPOs by training professionals responsible for the management of areas such as business partnerships, government bodies, outcome metrics, innovation and lobbying.
The co-operation between Esade Institute for Social Innovation and “la Caixa” Foundation has been fundamental for the success and continuity of these programs. Since joining forces in 1999, they have delivered top-quality management training tailored to the needs of the non-profit sector. This partnership has bolstered the professionalization of the third sector and created collaborative networks that endure to this day.
The persons with managerial responsibilities who have studied at Esade in both Barcelona and Madrid belong to non-profit organizations including such major NGOs as the Red Cross, Caritas, UNHCR, Entreculturas, Greenpeace and Educo, to name but a few.
