Esade and BASF have renewed the partnership in which the chemical multinational will continue to promote research and public-debate projects by the Esade Chair in LeadershipS and Sustainability. This alliance aims to contribute to the Chair’s research into new leadership models for providing businesses with a transformative mindset and a new, sustainable framework for action.

Esade director general, Xavier Mendoza, emphasized that “this co-operation reinforces our mission of becoming agents of change through research and social debate by linking academic knowledge to the construction of a fairer society and promoting a greater understanding and more in-depth application of sustainable leadership models.”

Meanwhile, BASF CEO in Spain, Carles Navarro, underlined that “Esade and BASF share the vision of transforming society by championing sustainable development and the common good.” The head of the BASF Group on the Iberian Peninsula then added, “it’s a privilege to renew our co-operation with Esade and, specifically, its Chair of Leadership and Sustainability. Our entities both know that there’s a huge challenge involved and that we need these alliances if we’re to cross the finishing line before time runs out.”

Action-oriented social debate

Since 2018, BASF and Esade have remained staunchly committed to promoting research and talent, and the alliance with Esade Chair in LeadershipS and Sustainability will continue to bolster this relationship. The Chair envisages that its activity will help foster a community of debate and reflection by involving senior managers from business and the public sector and also Esade faculty in its applied research projects, and specifically, those about incorporating systemic thinking into the corporate world. To this end, knowledge conferences and forums will be organized, in addition to disseminating examples of success business leadership focused on sustainable development.

With a view to sharing knowledge with society, Esade and BASF will participate in designing research projects that analyze the obstacles and opportunities of applying systemic thinking and impact leadership. Studies will also be conducted into the steps companies can take internally and externally to contribute to long-term sustainability and resilience.
