Research accreditations and merits: how to get them?
Accreditations
Accreditations: faculty accreditations are tools for internal promotion (at Esade and at the URL) that also help to certify the academic programmes in which we teach.
These accreditations are issued by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA) of the Spanish Ministry of Universities; and by the Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency (AQU) de la Generalitat de Catalunya.
Merits
Merits (Trams – AQU and Sexenios – ANECA), help to recognise research quality and are essential for directing doctoral theses and to be members of doctoral thesis panels.
This infographic shows the requirements for each certification.
When to apply for accreditations and merits?
Accreditations
With regards to ANECA there are two modalities (PEP and Academia), and faculty can apply at any time if they meet the criteria. With regards AQU accreditations, it is required to check their website because the dates can vary according to the category.
Accreditations do not expire.
Merits
In the case of merits, a certification expires after six years and it is important to renew it. The next call for AQU is in July and for ANECA in January (these dates might change).
This infographic shows the different positions to which Professors can apply.
