La independencia y la diversidad, claves en los resultados medio ambientales y sociales
Over the last few years, many companies have recognized the importance of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) issues. Not only shareholders and investors have shown their concern for the sustainability of companies in the long term, but also consumers and employees are more aware of the impact of services and products on the environment and society in general. Therefore, the Board of Directors and the new director must be able to supervise strategies that promote the creation of value in the long term, identifying not only the opportunities but also the less foreseeable and known risks of their activity.
In this context, the Esade Corporate Governance Center and Diligent have collaborated in the study "E&S friendly Boards" in which data from almost 5,000 companies from 50 countries have been analyzed, identifying which practices of boards - for example, size, independence level, or diversity in terms of gender, age and nationality- and what knowledge or expertise of the directors influence E&S policies and performance.
