Barcelona4Impact, an initiative led by Esade, Norrsken and Ship2B in collaboration with Barcelona City Council, today unveiled the programme for its inaugural edition. From 9 to 16 October, the city will host more than 60 activities organised by 72 organisations, companies and other entities from the impact ecosystem.

The initiative aims to connect and raise the profile of Barcelona’s existing impact ecosystem, fostering new connections among entrepreneurs, investors, businesses, universities, social organisations and institutions, and encouraging knowledge sharing and opportunities for collaboration.

Over the course of a week, the city will host more than sixty events addressing some of the key social, environmental and economic challenges, covering topics such as climate and sustainability, health, education, equality, technology, impact investing, entrepreneurship and the circular economy, among others.

The programme is expected to attract more than 8,000 participants, including professionals from a range of sectors, entrepreneurs, investors, students and members of the public interested in learning about and taking part in the events.

The economic scale of the initiative is also reflected in the investment capacity of the participating ecosystem. The impact investment funds active in Catalonia that are represented at the various events hold approximately €1.5 billion in capital in total.

Barcelona4Impact is also expected to contribute more than €4 million to the city’s economy, taking into account both spending on organising the events and expenditure by people travelling to the city specifically to attend them.

Barcelona4Impact was founded with a goal shared by its three founding organisations, which highlight the need to connect Barcelona’s existing ecosystem, facilitate knowledge sharing and create new opportunities for collaboration among initiatives working in different fields to generate impact.

With this inaugural edition, Barcelona is demonstrating the strength of an ecosystem that already brings together organisations, talent, knowledge and capital committed to the impact economy. This critical mass reinforces the city’s ambition to establish itself as a European impact hub.
