What is the Program for Management Development (PMD)?
The Esade Program for Management Development (PMD®) is an advanced training program designed to boost executives’ and leaders’ careers. It provides them a holistic vision of business management with a practical and experience-based focus.
The Esade PMD® is an investment in your professional future. It will enable you to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to become an effective leader and take your career to the next level.
Who is the PMD’s target audience?
The PMD® has been designed for professionals with at least 8 years of professional experience who want to further develop their skills and knowledge to be able to address and overcome the challenges of today’s business world:

What are the PMD’s objectives?
The Esade PMD® program objectives are to:

How long is the PMD?
The PMD® lasts 6 months, consisting of weekly sessions on Fridays and Saturdays.
Where is the PMD taught?
The PMD® is taught in person on both our Barcelona (Building 3) and Madrid campuses. In addition, participants will also take part in an international study tour at the prestigious HEC Paris business school.
How much does the PMD cost?
Tuition for the PMD® is €27,200.

What modules does the PMD include?
The PMD® comprises 6 different modules:
- Leadership and team management
- Business strategy
- Financial management
- Marketing and sales
- Operations and logistics
- Innovation and creativity
- International study tour at HEC Paris.
What does the HEC Paris module consist of?
The Esade PMD® offers this unique international experience via a three-day module at the prestigious HEC Paris business school. This study tour provides you:
- Experiential learning: The module has been designed to encourage experiential learning in a relaxed setting.
- An innovative focus: It applies an extremely innovative focus to brainstorm new ideas and reinvent the participants’ business models.
- Networking opportunities: The resident component of the module is offered jointly to PMD Barcelona and Madrid participants, greatly increasing their networking opportunities.
- A global vision: Participants will acquire a global view of business and learn to operate in an international market.
Who teaches the PMD?
The PMD® program faculty include prestigious, well-known academic scholars and professionals who are immersed in business reality, ensuring the knowledge participants acquire is put into practice.
What differentiates the PMD from other programs?
The PMD® is different from other Esade programs in that:
- You’ll obtain the Strategic Innovation and Cross-cultural Management Certificate after the enriching experience at HEC Paris.
- You’ll participate in debates, resolve case studies individually and in groups, experiment with business simulators, attend lectures, learn by playing, learn by doing, and sit in on master classes.
- You’ll work on a real project related to your organization or a new idea for a startup or venture, to put all the knowledge you’ve acquired into practice. A personal tutor will guide you when preparing your business plan.
- You’ll also be able to take advantage of the Personalized Leadership Plan (the LEAD Program), with 360º assessment and personal coaching to develop your own, personalized executive competency plan.

What is the PMD participant profile like?
The general Esade PMD® participant profile corresponds to professionals ages 35 to 45 and from a wide variety of industries that want to furth their professional careers.
Below are some details on the most relevant aspects of PMD® participant profiles:
Professional experience: PMD® participants have ample professional experience, spanning 15 years on average. This enables them to add a valuable perspective to in-class discussions and talk about their own experiences with classmates.
Variety of professional backgrounds: PMD® participants work in a wide variety of industries, enriching the program and enabling participants to learn from each other and their experiences.
Average age: The average PMD® participant is 40 years old. This means that participants are at a critical point in their careers, seeking to further develop and acquire new skills.

What are the admissions requirements for the PMD?
To be accepted into the PMD®, you have to:
- Accredit a minimum of 8 years of full-time professional experience.
- Have an advanced level of English.
What does the PMD selection process include?
The PMD® selection process includes the following phases:

Admissions requirements:
Accredit a minimum of 8 years of full-time professional experience.

Interview:
A personal interview with the Program Director to analyze your personal objectives and for you to learn about the PMD® program’s content and methodology.
This interview can be held in person or via videoconference.

Admissions Committee:
The Admissions Committee is in charge of analyzing all the applications individually and determining whether to accept the candidates. The aim is to create a group of participants from a wide variety of backgrounds to enrich the program even further.

Acceptance letter:
You’ll receive an acceptance letter from the Admissions Committee informing you about its decision.
Esade will consider that you have confirmed your participation the moment it receives payment to reserve your spot in the program.
Candidates who fail to meet this requirement will not be considered enrolled in the program.

Pre-Program:
Once your enrolment has been confirmed, you’ll receive a welcome letter with details on the start of the program.
The Pre-Program phase will help you prepare for the PMD® and familiarize you with the program content and methodology.

What financing options are available for the PMD?
The Esade PMD® is an investment in your professional future. To help you finance the cost of the program, Esade offers different financing options:

Lines of credit:
Esade has established collaboration agreements with Banc Sabadell, CaixaBank and Banco Santander, offering advantageous financing conditions for all its students.

Early-enrolment discount:
If you enroll in the PMD® early, you can take advantage of discounts on your tuition.

Individual Training Permit (Permiso Individual de Formación, PIF):
If you’re working in Spain, you can apply for a PIF via the National Foundation for Employment Training (Fundación Estatal para la Formación en el Empleo, FUNDAE).
The PIF permit enables you to reimburse your training and obtain financial assistance to be able to participate in the PMD®.
