Her research focuses on three core areas: i the interplay of emotion and cognition in entrepreneurs' actions and well-being, ii entrepreneurship in new, oppositional market categories e.g., craft beer, green energy, in-vitro meat, and iii drivers and processes of academic entrepreneurship.
Through her research, Dr Huyghe has interviewed and followed the start-up/scale-up journey of over a hundred founders across multiple industries on three continents.
Her work has been published in top-tier academic journals, including Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Business Venturing, Small Business Economics, and the Journal of Technology Transfer.
She got elected to serve on the executive committee of the Entrepreneurship Division of the Academy of Management and the editorial review board of the premier entrepreneurship journal, Journal of Business Venturing.
Dr Huyghe has developed and delivered entrepreneurship courses to undergraduates, graduate students, and executives.
At ESADE, she teaches entrepreneurship in the CEMS, Executive MBA and Double Degree in Law & Global Governance programs. In her teaching, she aims to empower students with the mindset and toolkit to launch and grow high-impact businesses.
Dr Huyghe has advised several early-stage technology ventures and regularly runs events to unite academics, entrepreneurs, and investors. In her involvement in the start-up scene, she is particularly devoted to promoting women-led ventures e.g., invited speaker on gender and pitching at Financial Times Women at the Top Summit 2019, organizer Female Founder Breakfast Series.
