Biography
Anna Carmella Ocampo is an Assistant Professor of Organizational Behavior and Human
Resource Management at ESADE Business School, Universitat Ramon Llull. Her research
examines the personal and contextual conditions that support or stifle the career
advancement opportunities of individuals from traditionally marginalised groups, including
[but not limited to] high-skilled migrants, mid-career women, the working poor, people
with chronic illness [e.g., those living with HIV]. Dr Ocampo's work addresses the
following questions: How can perfectionistic performance expectations shape people's
organizational life? How can leaders within gateway institutions, such as schools
and workplaces, enhance or impede people's well-being and career progression? Ultimately,
she aims to contribute to knowledge of the mechanisms that improve the career and
work experiences of people regardless of their background. Her research appears in
the Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of
Vocational Behavior, Harvard Business Review, among others. Prior to joining ESADE,
she was an Assistant Professor of Management at EMLV Paris. Dr Ocampo teaches courses
in organizational behavior, leadership, and people management.
