10,000 million to transform education with European funds after covid-19

Investments via European funds (EU – Next Generation) are a great opportunity for Spain to change our social and economic model for future generations. Transforming education should be one of the country’s priorities in directing such investments.

The impact of the pandemic on education will be enormous, and it will worsen educational gaps. According to economic estimates, this setback may lead to a drop in future wages and a loss of 1.5% of future GDP in the long term. Addressing the structural challenge of educational inequity is essential for economy recovery, social and political cohesion – and to provide job opportunities for an entire generation.

In this Policy Insight we propose a plan of 10,000 million euros, with four investment axes via aid and loans, through EU – Next Generation funds.
