Mothers carry the majority of the burden of child care during the Covid-19 pandemic

Claudia Hupkau, author of the report Covid-19 and gender inequality in Spain, says that in the short term the possibilities of change in terms of gender equality are very limited.

The author estimates that in about 13% of Spanish two-parent households with dependent children, fathers will become the main providers of childcare because they are forced to stay at home and their partners work in critical jobs.
